Jane Austen's home,
Lavender fields,
the White Uffington Horse
and Ashbury

Jane Austen lived with her sister, mum and best friend Martha  🙂 in this house in Chawton, Hampshire, for the last 18 years of her life. Her brother let them stay here after their father's death.

She revised and wrote six of her novels while she lived here: Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Emma, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion.

The kitchen was a part of the main house, but had a separate entrance, in case of fire.

This game must have contributed to building Jane's patience. 😉
Da li neko zna kako se zove ova igra?

This little table is where Jane wrote her novels and letters - positioned between the fireplace and the window, for light and warmth.

They say she wrote on tiny pieces of paper, which she could hide quickly when someone entered the dining room.

Perfect, flawless handwriting – only practice and love of writing can get you there!

Hand sawn and hand stitched dancing slippers, muslin shawl and complex & huge patchwork cover are a testament to Jane's patience, skill and creativity – something modern humans rarely possess.

It is believed that Jane shared this bed with her sister Cassandra – it's tiny and short!

Walking in Jane's footsteps – close to her dreams, imagination, daydreaming and fantasy.

Jane's closet

Look how petite she was!

(Ignore the electric ceiling lights 😁)

😃 You can dress up as one of Jane's characters, female or male.

Last winter's adventures:
If you ever go to the White Horse of Uffington, this is what you'll see – undefined white curves in the field – hardly a horse!

But the view is astonishing!

The wind is merciless up on the hill overlooking three English counties!

According to a legend, St George killed a dragon on this natural little hill.

Iz nekog razloga, ovaj prizor me podseća na knjigu 'Orkanski visovi'.
